Position Summary:

 The Residential Electrical Helper Level 1 is responsible for performing basic electrical contractor’s tasks, including trenching, excavating, sawing, drilling, cutting, clean up, and other work. This position is also responsible for assisting employees that are more experienced.

Perform skilled labor duties related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems and equipment to include but not limited to:

• Perform basic commercial electrical & low voltage system duties as assigned
• Perform trenching and excavating duties. Install underground conduit as needed
• Saw, drill, cut, and grind as needed
• Perform all cleanup tasks as assigned
• Assist in pulling wire or rough in of electrical and low voltage system work
• Install devices, trim, and lamp fixtures as needed
• Rough-in and Trim out
• Follow established safety standards at all times
• Read blueprints and apply knowledge when necessary
• Move and install heavy equipment when needed
• Must be able to operate all hand tools, large pipe bending tools, hydraulic or mechanical benders, as well as other equipment typically used for residential electrical work

Experience and Education Required:

• Must have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in the English language at a minimum eighth (8th) grade level
• Mathematics skills sufficient to be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and fractions

Preferred:

• Currently attending or ability to enroll in the ABC, F.E.A.T or Brevard Apprenticeship program
• High School Diploma or GED

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• This job operates in a construction job site environment and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions or inside conditions.
• While performing this job's duties, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee may be occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites.
• Often exposed to loud sounds and noise levels as well as very bright or inadequate lighting conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
• Regular exposure to dirt, hazardous equipment, wiring, and underground and/or elevated heights.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day.
• Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
• Ability to wear company approved Personal Protective Equipment per local, state, federal, or OSHA regulations.
• The employee must frequently lift and move items over 50 pounds.
• Requires the ability to perform physical duties listed above for extended periods.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type, Expected Hours of Work, and Travel:

• Requires the ability to report to job sites throughout Florida; locations vary depending on the individual's home location.
• This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary but equate to 40 hours per week. May be requested to work overtime, nights, and weekends.
